ADC coaching, self-study or a question bank: how to choose
Choose preparation around the gap you need to close. If you understand the material but miss timed questions, another lecture course may not solve the problem. If you cannot explain a clinical decision, doing more questions without reviewing the source may not help either.
Updated 27 September 2026 · By Reviz. We sell ADC preparation, so this is a decision framework, not an independent ranking of providers. We have not tested every course or verified provider pass-rate claims.
Start with one practice-and-review session
- Attempt a small set of sample clinical questions without consulting notes.
- For each error, record whether the problem was missing knowledge, applying knowledge, misreading the case or time management.
- Check the explanation against the cited source. Write down the clinical feature that should have changed your answer.
- Choose support for your most repeated problem, then reassess after a week. This exercise diagnoses study needs; it does not predict an ADC pass.
Match the support to the problem
| Your main difficulty | What may help | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| You need concepts explained and questions answered | Teaching with access to a tutor | Who teaches, their relevant qualifications, response time and whether you can attend a sample session |
| You know the material but struggle to apply it | Case-based questions with explanations and source references | Inspect a full sample, including why alternative answers are less appropriate |
| You struggle to keep a routine | A schedule, study partner or supported course | Whether the timetable fits your work and whether missed sessions can be recovered |
| You already study consistently and can resolve doubts | Self-study with selected references and practice | Whether your plan covers the exam domains and includes review and timed practice |
| You repeatedly run out of time | Timed practice followed by a pacing review | Whether the practice reflects the current written exam format, rather than just counting questions |
Use this checklist for any course or question bank
- Evidence: Can you see sample teaching and complete explanations before paying? Are references identifiable and current?
- Scope: Is this written-exam preparation, practical-exam preparation or both? Do not assume one includes the other.
- Support: Who handles doubts, through which channel, and within what stated timeframe?
- Access: What is the expiry date? Are extensions, mock exams, books or live sessions extra?
- Terms: Ask for the total payable in your currency, any taxes and refund terms in writing.
- Claims: For a claimed pass rate, ask for the cohort, time period, number of candidates and how outcomes were verified. A testimonial alone does not establish your likely result.
Budget without buying the same support twice
Keep official assessment fees separate from optional preparation. Use our ADC cost guide for the assessment stages. For preparation, list the resources you already own, the access period you need, and the specific support each purchase adds. Compare current written quotes; course prices and inclusions can change.
A workable starting plan is one main reference route, one practice method and scheduled error review. Add a course or tool when it addresses a demonstrated gap. Our study resources guide explains how to choose reading without treating every book as a compulsory purchase.
Where Reviz fits
Reviz provides ADC written-exam practice with Remy on WhatsApp. A 48-hour trial lets you assess the explanation style and study workflow. Check the trial's included chapters before deciding whether it fits your needs. It is not an ADC endorsement, a substitute for official candidate instructions or a promise of passing.
Use official information for exam requirements
Check the ADC written examination page for current candidate information. A provider's marketing should not override the official examination instructions.
